The politician announced the news by text message - with his campaign headquarters sending an SMS to supporters on Saturday (23Aug08) morning stating: "Barack has chosen Senator Joe Biden to be our VP nominee." Biden has long been rumoured as a favourite in the race to become Obama's vice-presidential running mate ahead of the November (08) election.
